RPM Low when in gear...
Hi,
I have a few problems with my E420. Electrical and transmission it seems.
When engaged in drive, my RPM's drop below 500. There is a noticeable vibration through the steering wheel. Engaging gears (from P to D, or D to R) is rather noticeable as the entire car lurches. Once the car gets going, all is well. No outstanding vibration except for normal road stuff through steering wheel, no transmission slipping, nothing out of the ordinary. Motor and transmission mounts were inspected by MB dealership and they say they are fine. Just tons of suspension work front and back and no change. Is it the torque converter? Or something more sinister? Any and all help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

Well, it sounds a lot like motor mounts. Maybe get a second opinion?
The P-D and P-N lurch might be the flex discs. If they were checked, maybe get a second opinion also.

Thank you RichardM98. I have read on a few sites that the flex discs like to disintegrate on the w210s, but I never considered it. I will ask the dealer to check them out and post more when they're done.

According to my Indie, they replace lots of 320 flex disks but VERY few 420/430 flex disks.
