I have a brand new plastic front license plate mount from the dealer. I need to attach it to the front bumper. It did not come with any screws.

I can't tell how long the screws can be. Any one out there know? It looks like if I choose screws too long, I might hit something possibly important.

Oh, and lest you tell me not to bother, as was done in this thread, my wife has been pulled over TWICE in the past three months for this reason ALONE. No ticket yet, but she's sick of bored cops nagging her.

We live in Culver City, CA if you're wondering where to avoid, but one of the warnings was from an LAX airport cop (who can write citations, BTW).

I tried to investigate behind the bumper, and it's not hollow. I can't get a good look at what is directly behind where the screws would go.

Drilled a couple pilot holes and poked around. Seems to be foam for about 1/2" behind the plastic of the bumper.

Just FYI for anyone who searches for this in the future.
