Very weird problem. erratic idle after CPS was changed and now hard shifting
Ok, i have a 1996 E320 with a I6, 722.5 transmission.
The car was running great with the exception of a little hard starting when the car was warm. Cold starts one click and always ran great, warm starts took a good 5 to 10 sec to get it started but everything was fine other than that.
I read the boards to fix the hard starting problem and I changed the CPS sensor. After the CPS sensor was changed all hell broke loose. I now have the following symptoms:
Symptoms:
Very hard shifting in low rpm, little better at high rpm, but still VERY bad, and loud.
Rough idling, between stalling and 1000+ rpm after shifting from Drive to Park. The idle is VERY erratic.
I know nothing is wrong with the transmission because prior to changing the CPS the transmission was smooth as silk. Again, when the CPS was changed (that moment on) it ran really bad. Tried putting the old CPS sensor back in but didn't change the way it ran. It didn't even go back to the old way of just the occasional hard warm start.
I'm really confused at this moment. I put it up to a OBDII and it threw no codes at all.
I need HELP.
