Alternator replacement HELP!!! E430

Alternator replacement HELP!!! E430
Im doing a alternator for my dads 2002 E430 4matic
I got the alternator unplugged, unbolted and just dangling there waiting for me to yank it out
Only problem is it doesn't fit in between the frame and engine block!
I disconnected motor mount, and jacked the motor up an inch or two and it didn't really do anything room wise.
SO, whats the trick to this? Does the engine have to come up more (im guessing) or is there a better way to do this.
I tried going from underneath (no way!!) and took the air box out and tried going from the top. Its about a half inch away from being enough room

When I did the Evosport pulleys on my car I removed the alternator from the top. I had to remove the fan and the fan shroud and it came out through the top fairly easily. I posted some pics over on benzworld and if I get some time I'll try to dig them up.
