Sun Sensor. What is this ???
Just browsed through the original brochure and under
"Standard Equipment/Interior Features", it list that there is a Sun Sensor.
Exactly where is this sensor located and what does it do?
Gracias....

ok...am I missing something here...the sun sensor senses the sun and then what??
the auto temperature inside the cabin is still controlled by the temp. you set on the HVAC control.

Yup. It is. But how do you suspect the HVAC system will know if the sun is beating down on the car or if it's not, in order to quickly change airflow velocity and temperature?

interesting...I thought it was a temp. probe that reads the cabin air and adjust the
fan speed and stabilize the temp. accordingly. I do remember seeing a small sensor shape on top of dash near middle of windshield.

Ok some clarification...
First: The wiper sensor is not in the rear of the rearview mirror (the rear view mirror sensor is a photocell), the wiper sensor are in the superior, center part of the windsield (you can see a black box back the rearview mirror "thats it"
Second: The sensor in the middle of the dash is the SOLAR RADIATION SESOR for the A/C system, when you get solar radiation directly it turns up the fan speed, close the exterior air flap & set the temp more cold!

Sun Sensor code 1234
I am having issues with my blower motor. (02 e320 4matic Sedan) The blower works perfect 24/7 in the summer A/C and or heat side. But in winter the blower motor blows when it wants to mostly it wont work and starts blowing whenever it feels like it.
I did a diagnostics code check via the control unit, and it pulled up a code: (EE1 234) Sun Sensor.
Would a faulty Sun Sensor cause issues in winter while using the heat. Again in the summer I have no problem at all whatsoever with the blower motors function. Just winters. I have replaced the regulator.
Any help would be awesome

Sun Sensor helps the computer to adjust the flow between upper and lower vents, but they routinely fail and everybody ignores them as they don't do anything drastic.
Meaning you problem is not related to this code.

Thanks much. Now I know why, when I try to direct the airflow to the floor the air still comes out of every vent. Your right because I ignore it too. My issue might be one ground wire buried deep in the spiderweb of wires making a bad contact in cold weather. I checked every wire I could with-in reason and or in reach, everything looks and feels tight with no corrosion. "It's an enigma". That's for sure. Love the car regardless.
