Breather Cover
Hello Gents,
I'm taking the challenge to re-do the Breather Cover (small leak). As you can see below I found a great DIY, only question I have is where do you use a flat head to assist on removing and also the black tube that connects to the top looks like it's on there pretty tight.
Any advice on this will be greatly appreciated

The black hose is on there tight and probably has glued itself to the cover due to heat and age. Be prepared to replace it for it may crack when you remove it. Permatex black gasket material in a tube works great for recreating the gasket. It is less expensive than the dealer version.Just be sure to let it set up a bit before putting the two pieces back together otherwise it will not seal properly and you will be doing it over. Sound like experience speaking here. Oh yea. be careful on the tork loading on the bolts as well. It is an easy DIY though and should not take too long.

Use a flat head screwdriver carefully all the way around to break the existing seal. Be careful to not put too much pressure for concern of chipping the aluminum. I started at the fron of the cover and gently pried it all the way around the top until the old seal let go. Be careful though. hope that helps.

Hey Buddy!
Thanks for the input, hope all is well. Question when stated wait for it to cure. How long before I re-assemble after putting the sealant? 2 min. 5 min. 10 min. can you narrow it down.
I defiantly don't want to re-do. Nothing else is worse then a re-do.
Oh- I did my homework and also found out that Permatex is the best, I purchased it before my post

Permatex set up from experience is about 5 - 10 minutes. As Fabio says wait a few hours for the Permatex completely set before introducing hot engine oil to it. All is well here. Right now in Cambridge, Ontario, but heading to Pittsburgh for the annual Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. It's an awesome show stretched over nearly two weeks. Here 's the website www.pvgp.org. Have an awesome Fourth in Beantown. Wish I were there
