Right Break Light Out, Bulb New
Hi, my 1997 E420 gives me a "Deffective Lamp" warning when I press the break and the passanger side breaklight doesn't turn on when I press the peddal. All other lights work correctly. I replaced the bulb with out any change and swaped the bulb and plastic socket with the one from the driver side but had no change. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

Check the metal conductive plate in the tailight! pretty common issue in the W210 tails, the contacts in the socket burn the plastic & metal in the tail & you got a false contact turning off the bulb, try with sandpaper (600) in the contacts, socket/tailamp & inform about ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

W210 E320
I have this problem with my driver side 'guard flasher' (as we call it in Australia). The blinker that sits near the front right wheel.
Except that socket is very small so it's hard to get sandpaper in there... It just looks like a bit of corrosion, passenger side is fine though.

evry time you remove the bulb socket to clean you bend the contact plat away from the socket,so take the socket out, clean the contacts with scouring pad then bend the plat back to restor the firm contact
good luck
