Crazy Front Seat Operation Driver & Pass

2001 E 320 No matter which way I push the seat cushion button on either front seat, the seats move forward ONLY. I used to be able to push on the floorboards against the forward motion & the seat would reverse direction & move rearward so I could get it to my comfortable position after a short person drove the car. (Moving forward is never a problem.)

If I hadn't memorized MY position to driver #2 button long ago, there'd be no way to move the seats backward. Pushing the #2 driver Memory button ALLWAYS moves the seat backward & down to my position, but it can't be done manually.

Anyone know whats wrong? Cost to fix it at dealer/indie?

I had the same exact problem on my E320. All i did was pulled that door cover right where that module is, and the cable that goes to the seat control module was pretty loose, I firmly plugged the cable into the module, worked like a charm since then

I've got the same problem. Did you remove just the wood cover with the switch or the entire inside door? If just the wood and switch, how does it come off?

in order to access the switch(es) module, you need to remove the inside door
liner. fortunately, it's quite simple.

as far as i remember, i think i took part of wood trim off, but not all the way, sort of like half way, and i saw the module. i reached in, and firmly plugged the cable in. i had the same problem. id press the seat to go back, it'd move forward. i press forward, it moves forward as well. i was able to use pre-set buttons, but then they stopped working, and only way to get it back, was to press 10000 times, before it moved back, unntil i reseat the cable, and all buttons work without a problem
