Help for a newbie w/a '99 E320 wagon
(Deep cleansing breath)
Ok, just bought the prettiest station wagon ever. Black and tan and gawjus. Eight days later, I spilled a small amount of soft drink on the front console. Mopped it w/ my shirt as I was driving. The next morning, I pulled out of my driveway and well...something felt funny. My car was bouncy and rumbly. Kept driving and all was well. That was two days ago. Today I was driving home from work and more trans shakiness and my check engine light came on. Pulled over, let the car sit for 5 minutes. Started car and it was running smoothly again. Check engine light still on. So my MB experts....what the hell should I do?

stop driving it. use the search function on this forum and type in keywords
"spill shift". read. report back after you try some of the immediate first
aid tips.
if you continue (may already be too late), you risk about $1k damage
