Glow Plug Problem

I have a 1996 E300D and I got a message saying "check engine electronics" so I ran the codes and it told me I had a bad glow plug. I changed all the glow plugs, but I still get the same code message "check engine electronics", also the glow plug indicator stays on even after the car is running, any ideas on what is wrong.

Could be the wiring harness?

The preglow-indication staying on after startup IS an indication one or more glowplugs are going bad. If you've replaced them all with OEM plugs it might be a resistance issue somewhere or the preglow-relay is bad?!

if any of the glow plugs is bad, you will feel rough engine start and the engine will smooth out afterwards. The glow light will stay on also.

Sounds like you may have one of those cases where a sensor detects you gas cap is not tighten properly. Make sure the cap is tight, and the warning light should go away after a few starts.
