oil change

I have a E320 4matic a 1998. I just bought it and wanted to know. How soon should you change the oil in the car? Is it just like any other car? First Benzs.

It all depends on the way you drive and what kind of oil you will be using. We discussed this in a previous thread titled, "Mobil 1 Oil Change." Check that thread out as there were some very good comments in there. Again, in my opinion (and this is what I do with my Benz) you should run fully synthetic oil and change your oil every 5,000 miles or 7,000 if you drive gingerly. Go to the Mobil 1 website and see which category your vehicle with its current mileage fits under. Here is the link to the website: http://www.mobil1.com/index.jsp

I am no expert but I love cars and try to learn everything that I can about them, especially Benz's. Kato, I am glad I could help and please let me know if there is anything else. What weight would you use for summer? The site says that the 10w30 is meant for 5 - 50 degrees. What about warmer temps? They say they dont have a 10w40.

In the service bulletins from Mercedes, it is recommend that you use 0-40w from Mobil 1, and that's what I use. It's for all temp.
