I only have the V6 - but I find the maintenance on the car to be pretty much what I expect it to be. The reliability of the car is very good IMO, and as a result I have not had many unexpected costs associated with this car. However - I also do all my own maintenance - so I bypass a lot of the pricey labor charges.

I've only had my E430 for 9 months, but I've put 12k miles on it. I've only done preventive maintenance: oil changes, cabin air filters, air filter, fuel filter, brake flush and tranny fluid and filter. My front brakes are getting due, so I will probably do them, spark plugs and rear diff. fluid as well. I haven't had to spend any money in repair work, as nothing has failed or broken. I did all the work myself, so the operating cost has been pretty low.
