Giving the 320CDI a towbar install...
Parts came in today, besides the towbar there's a vehicle-specific wiring kit with OEM connectors all the way up to the light switch. Planning on doing the install tomorrow if it doesn't rain!!! Will take and post some pics...

That sounds great! Are you getting a Westfalia tow hitch? I think those and Oris are the best ... none of them available in America though.
Looking forward to some pictures.

The install of the metal hardware took the best of my day. It involves removing the rear bumper, dropping the exhaust and removing it's heatshield. Drilling 5 holes for various bolts, and two large 65mm holes behind the bumper. The large holes are to slide two support struts into the chassis beams and bolting them down. Large rubber grommets are supllied to cover these holes. Ofcourse I put a coat of zincspray everywhere I drilled. All this heavy metal must probably really strengten the rear in case I get rear ended btw. Unfortunatly it was raining and I was working on the car under a carport so I didn't take pics.
I'll do the wiring harness tomorrow...

Other 20% is so I can tow a trailer for my race-bikes so I can get rid of the need for the truck. Going to look for a folding trailer so I can just store that in the garage and eliminate the need for an additional vehicle that we only use 10 times a year...

All I'm going to pull is a Brenderup bagagetrailer. I need to move some large boxes and stuff a few times a year and we use it on holidays. It weighs a maximum of 750kg while the car is allowed to pull 1900kg.
I'm glad there's never been a towbar under my car. All too often people have been pulling a horsetrailer or something going way over the 1900kg. Then you buy a car and the diff and trans have severe wear without knowing it.
