COMAND options

I am looking to ditch the COMAND unit for something more modern. I searched but didn't find much info on this topic. Does anyone have any insight to what options I have available to me. It seems from the crutchfield site I am limited to single DIN units?

What year is your car? I take it you have factory COMAND? Do you care about retaining the steering wheel controls (assuming you have a '00 or newer)?

It's a 2001, it would be nice to keep if the cost associated with integration is low.

With the 2000+ models, you need to get a controller if you want to keep steering wheel controls. You can replace the COMAND with a double DIN unit, but you bear in mind that the COMAND is slightly larger, so you will need to install a plate to cover the gap between the 2 DIN radio and the COMAND wood bezel.
