[2001 E240 W210]Replacing foglights & installing aftermarket proejctor lights
I am interested in replacing my standard crappy projector fog lights with these here:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Projector-Hea...#ht_3566wt_947
I would like my lights to look like this:![](http://img686.imageshack.us/img686/3733/img6967u.jpg)
I've looked at this site: http://www.piaa.com/controller.php?a...BENZ&model=947
MERCEDES-BENZ - E-Class 96-10
LOW:
H7
HIGH:
H7
FOG:
H11
So with this information, will I be looking for these specific light bulbs?
Notes: This car has an D1S H.I.D low beam option. HID option, check Owner's Manual to ensure correct bulb type.
As a side note, I am RHD.
but, here comes my question.
1) Am I able to, AFTER installing the new projector lights, install xenon-look halogen bulbs to low beam and high beam? If so, which specific bulbs am I looking for? Id like a whitish/bluish look.
2) My foglights died, which xenon-look halogen bulbs should I be looking to get? Id like it to match the high & low beams as well..
Any links to ebay much appreciated..

If you want real HID look for your bulbs you'll need to install xenon ballasts and bulbs into the new projector housings. You CAN kinda get the xenon HID look with those xenon halogen bulbs but its really not the same. Just a tip on HID bulb temp, don't do anything over 6k kelvin because you will drastically lose light output for a stupid more purplish hue.

well in that case, there are alot of japanese brand bulbs (like piaa) that can output the simulated color that you want. Just be aware of the wattage of these bulbs (compare the stock h7 bulb wattage to the aftermarket ones.). The other problem with these is lifetime, I've had some that lasted awhile (say 3+ years of use) while others have failed to last for even 6 months. This is just my personal experience on all of my cars, not just my MB.
Suggestions... PIAA are decent, also look for Polarg or Nokya. These are the "brand name" Japanese bulbs (again not saying that they are quality stuff just saying these are the norm in the JDM world). Also, I don't think you are in the USA but there is a site http://www.hoen-usa.com/ which claims to sell halogen HID matching bulbs. Never tried them but they look convincing.

MBWorld Fanatic!
And how are HID kits expensive? Order a kit from DDM Tuning; $25+s/h.

I thought these HID kits would not work on something like a 2002 E320 that did not have HIDs or something better than stock H7s. I thought I read that the current wiring would not handle the HIDs. Yes? No?
