Engine Oil Disappears
I asked this question few months ago, but nobody really gave me an answer, cause I didnt know often it disappears.... So heres the story....
Changed my oil not too long ago, car had 112,802 miles
I took my car up north (Florida to Massachusetts), while driving, at around 114,500 miles on it, got the low oil msg. It said to add another 1.0qt. Aaded 1qt, checked again, said OK. continuted driving....
Next gas station I stopped to check the oil, it had 114,787 miles, and it said to add 1qt, but the low oil msg didnt come one... I added another quart, checked oil again, said ok, and continuted driving.....
Got back home to Florida, checked oil at 116,712, it said i needs another quart. Again, the light didnt came on.. Added a quart, checked again, said OK....
The oil doesnt drip anywhere, nor on the bottom, nor on any of the engine components. Dont see ANY drops of oil nowhere, so my assumption it burns the oil...
I am not a mechanic, and dont know how bad the problem is, or in fact what might be the problem. I would appreciate any help where should I begin. Thank you!!

1qt
every 2k miles is not excessive. 100k plus mile engine going by the rings.
Monitor it monthly by the dipstick and add when needed.
Some engines maintained on fss pass hardly any oil well past 150k miles of life
with 10k oil changes
others go through a few qts between every change.
Don't lose sleep over it.....

Look at your valve covers as well - I think I'm having a similar issue and I believe mine is due to the valve cover gaskets leaking oil out.
FWIW - my car has 173K miles and seem to add a quart every other month.

What weight oil are you using? The thinner oils will burn away faster than the thicker oils. Mercedes recommends oils from 30 wt up to 60 wt, depending on the temperature range the car will see. Older engines with some wear will benefit from thicker oil in general as the oil pressure will be higher.

Your car is perfectly fine. my 01 E430 does the same thing burning oil a bit, it doesn't seem to make a different when changing to different weigh of oil. I switched between mobil1 5w-40 (winter) and 5w-50 (summer) it makes no different at all.
