squeaky doors

My driver side door squeeks when I open and close it. I've tried greasing it, but it keeps coming back. The dealer said I have to replace the check straps. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Both the left and right front doors on my 98 E3220 also squeak. I too have lubed the hinges with no luck.

E-Klasse, where did you get the chrome trim piece above your license plate? I've been looking for that but have only found it for the wagons.

I got it off of Ebay. The sellers Ebay name is "bmwmb". You can contact him @ erikk1112@hotmail.com or bmwmb888@hotmail.com.

Yes, you need to either tighten your check strap or replace it if it is tight. Here is a link to replacing the check strap on a different body style Mercedes, but the procedure is pretty much the same, and very straightforward as long as you can get the door panel off using the link that was already posted above.
