New (used) E320 owner; maintenance help

Hey everybody, Newbie here...

I just got my first MB after driving 7 and 9 series volvo's for the last 10 years. The car is a 98 E320 RWD with only 60000 K on it and I would like to know what maintenance/checks should be performed.
To further elaborate, I have been taking care of most needs my cars had in the past and intend to do so with this vehicle as well. So i will probably need a Haynes Book or are there others that are better?
There are no mechanical issues at the moment with the exception of the sliding sun roof only retracting 1/3 of the way. (tilt is fine) Any tips on that are appreciated ...
In addition to the obvious oil and plugs change should the trans. be flushed? What about the rear diff? Any other items that should be checked before they can cause big $$ damage?
Also I have a few rust spots (dent on rear passenger door bottom and rear emblem) that I intend to take care of once the weather warms. Really looking for containment not perfection but any tips are welcome. (Bondo and spray can)
Thank you All for sharing your wisdom...

Plugs are good to 100K probably more.

Pretty easy car to work on for the experienced DIYer. You'll need a few specialized tools but nothing too expensive. Plenty of online info at MB sites to help with all routine maintenance. And you'll find people willing to answer your questions.

On sunroof, does pressing the switch repeatedly cause it to move a little at a time? If so it has loss it's 'sync'. If a second push causes it to go the rest of the way then it's normal. Most owners notice a wind noise when sunroof is fully open. First stop point tends to be quieter. If sunroof won't move after first stop point you may have a cable issue or something in one of the tracks.

As mentioned, for oil be sure to use 229.3 or 229.5 MB spec oil and fleece (not paper) media filter. Mobil 1 synthetic 0w-40 European Car Formula is the easiest to find. A lot of people use a small suction device to remove the oil thru the oil dipstick tube. Very convenient since the filter is on top of the engine so no need to raise the car. Can still be done the old way too.

Two important services are Brake Fluid flush - every two years regardless of mileage. And Coolant flush every three years.

For all the recommended service cycles check the owners manual package for a thin booklet titled 'Maintenance Booklet'. If it's missing either call 1-800-FOR MERCedes or stop by the dealership. Either free or just a couple bucks. If no owners manuals get one of those too.

Thanks for all the good advice...

I am about to order a fuel filter, air filter, oil filter, and 12 Bosh FR8DPP33+ plugs from amazon.

Also I found these spark plug wires. Are they any good? Should I change the wires after 13 Years even If there is no issue? link to wires: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=AYZ062M1ZWK81

Thanks for sharing your wisdom...

I wouldn't change the wires if the are not damaged. They should last a long time. Just my .02.

If you're going to do the plugs get the 'plug boot tool' - MB Part No. 110-589-01-01-00 (Hazet 2771 17mm valve adj. wrench) or others (pm Ohlord). It will save the coil wires from damage.
