Left Side mirror Removal
The drivers side mirror needs replacing on my '99 wagon. I would like to replace just the glass itself and I have searched both forums but I haven't been able to find the removal procedure for my model car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you remove the cover it will be obvious how to remove the glass from it's mount. While the cover is off check the spring attachment for bending, and repair that at the same time. The following link will tell you how to remove the cover and fix the spring attachment. http://tinyurl.com/37p25qf

Hey guys, with your help I was able to remove the mirror. I had no idea that these mirrors are "breakaway" and swing both ways should you hit something. Man, do I love this forum, I have learned so much about my Benz. Thanks again. Now if I could only find a source for the heated, auto dimming glass at a reasonable price my problem will be solved.

I bought mine here. The price is not reasonable. Just the best I was able to find. This link is for my '97 E 300 D, so plug in your car to see if it is less expensive.

I was able to find just the glass on ebay for $65. Normally it's $300 + because of the auto dimming feature. Took 2-3 months of waiting to find a cheap one listed. There were a couple for $150-$250 but I thought that was a little much for just the glass. Only took about 5 minutes to replace it once it arrived.

This was for a 98 but I believe it would fit on your car also.

Here is a cheap one without the auto dimming feature. I almost bought one of these but they all seemed a little sketchy. Personally I'm glad I went with the OEM one wouldn't mess with these aftermarket ones.
