Not too bad. It helps a lot to have the 'boot removal tool' which is a wrench which levers against the valve cover to pry off the boot. Also helps protect the wires from damage.

There are alltogether 16 to be replaced, ... they last about 80 to 100.000 kilometers, so you might as well have them changed by a professional, ... especially the ones in the back are pretty tough to get out / in !!!

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
He has

a v6 12 plugs and you pop off the engine cover, remove the torx screws from the coils, lift them out of the way,pop off the boots with the 17mm boot tool and r/r the plugs. No need for a pro you can do it on an easy few hour Sat. morning.
Plugs about 4bucks each single electrode bosch 7422 ngk 7090
use no anti seize.
diy on www.benzworld.org w210 section
even if it was a v8 still easy and plenty of room if you follow directions and use the right tools.
5 years or 100000 miles whichever comes first

Are you sure about 100k miles, I'm pretty sure it's more like 80 to 100k kilometers!

Anyway, I wouldn't go trough the ordeal to change them myself, it's more or less a "one time action" I would recommend, have it done!

Factory recommendation is 100K miles or 5 years on '02 USA models. The OP didn't ask but the plugs would be one of the last things to worry about. Unless there's an issue change them when everything else is sorted out.

Changing them oneself depends on if you have some experience, automotive mechanics tools, the time and the desire to save $300 or so. You do get the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself but I agree that is likely a one time service for most W210 owners.
