2011 C 300 2001 E 430
I bought the Bilstein sport shocks and found them too harsh for my car. I wanted a more plush ride, since I use freeways and do not race or take corners at 100mph. My E430 is my family car and all we do is cruise. So I ended up buying (hope if don't get in trouble for this......again) Monroe SensaTrac Shocks. To which I have been very happy for my purposes. ( I do not work for Monroe, or any affiliation establishments!.... for those censors on the site,,who ding you for mentioning non sponsors on the threads)

As mentioned, you might want to inspect the rubber bushings in the suspension components. They require replacement regularly.
Shocks are pretty much a fix it when it's broken item. OEM shocks are available from suppliers like autohausaz.

If your car is not lowered the sport shocks were the problem but not the problem you think. Bilstein sports have much shorter travel and are made to maximize lowering springs like eibach and h/r .

I recommend Bilsteins as well...got mine through fleabay about 2 yrs ago. Get the Heavy Duty not Sport unless you like a super stiff ride. OE's last to about 110k and then slowly fail. I replaced at the 105k mark and currently have 209k on the clock (still as firm as when they were first put on). Bilsteins should last life of your car and if they don't just remember to keep your receipt and they will replace any faulty ones free of charge. Paid about $300 for front and back, got them installed with my mech. Also, one other thing you might consider for brakes if you drive mix of highway and city...Akebono Premium pads! I put a set on at same time as the shocks (110k) and the brake light just came on this week at 209K. These lasted almost 100k surprisingly!!
