W210 Diesel drivers: EGR disable possible!

I've stumbled upon a fairly easy way to disable EGR operation without throwing limp-home-mode. It works on cars with a MAF and a vacuum-operated EGR valve. So the E300 TurboDiesel and my E320 CDI.

It can be done yourself if you can handle a soldering iron and a multimeter.
The schematic is quite simple. A resistor 'acts' like the coil of the EGR vacuum-transducer so the ECU 'sees' a load when operating it.

Another resistor and a diode causes the exact drop in Voltage the ECU expects to 'see' on wire #5 of the MAF when the EGR is operated. While in fact the EGR transducer is disconnected!

The mod has been installed in my car, and my inlaws' car. (also a 320CDI)
If we don't get limp-mode after a few days I'll post a how-to here. First signs: engine clearly runs more silent and smooth, and no more cloud of sooth when using kickdown! Next is removing the inlet manifold and clean all the gunk out!

Anyone intrested in this MOD please post here! I don't feel like PMing for ages so if there's lots of interest I'll make a seperate thread this weekend!

Your wunder fix may work in Holland, however in Amerika if I lived in a state that required emissions testing and I F'ed with my EGR I would fail the test and be SOL.

Additionally we will be waiting for advice on the longer term aspects of electronically eliminating the EGR like reduced mpl and impact on the catalytic converter. Forgetting about reduced air quality

I have this mod from UK-based forums where not a single person who performed this mod reported back problems. MPG actually improves 2 to 5% according to their members.

There are no more greasy-soothy exhaust gasses going into the intake (sort of controlled suffocating the engine), resulting in a cleaner and higher temperature burn. The simple oxidation cat these diesels have is of no concern and will actually get cleaner!

Emissions wise; CO2 output lowers, sooth output drastically lowers, NoX goes up! I don't know if they specifically measure NoX output in the US on Diesels...

Below a pic of the inlet manifold, and the inlet channels of the cylinder head on a 320CDI OM613 with 300.000km. (my car currently has 280k) Notice the square-shaped channel is about 33% reduced in diameter! When you use kickdown part of this is being burnt and the 'debris' goes through the cat. This can't be good...
