combined 24 mpg on E300td 98 isn't it bad?!
Hi , I own a w210 E300td i own it for one year and i notice that during the summer days i was getting about 26 mpg city and highway but now in the cold weather i'm only getting 24 mpg . however 24or26 it is low from what i have known of these cars but i'm disappointed . i'm i supposed to do something to improve mpg???

I am commuting about 50 miles a day. Highway but 1/2 is start stop in heavy traffic. I have been betting low 30's. Just put in power service diesel additive in last two
tanks. I'm noticing a big difference in fuel consumption for the better. Keep in mind mine is a NA engine not turbo. 211k so far. Might want to give the additive a try.

The worst advice the Dutchman could give you would be to fool around with or dismantle the EGR system. He may be a wonderkid, but he SAS ain't an auto engineer.
Our cars don't need any additives. What they do need is good water free filtered fuel and every 150K miles the injectors removed, tested and repaired if needed. Ask any truck stop where they send their injectors for testing and repair.
