Very uneven rear brakepad wear?!
My car had squeeky brakes and I noticed the rear pads were almost gone so I did them today. The rotors are fine, I got OEM pads from the dealer and the pads that were on the car were also OEM (markings on the back).
The pads on the outside are completely gone but the inner pads are barely worn, is this a common issue or is something worng? See pics;
Outer and Inner pad comparison:
Inner and Brand new pad comparison:
I used copper grease on the sides of the pads and on the caliper contact area. My car does not have wear indicators on the rear and as you can see the VIN-ordered new pads have no slot for them anymore...

When you slide the pads in, do they slide freely back and forth? If not, scrape and clean the heck out of the area the pads would slide on.
If they do slide easily, then your caliper needs rebuilding.

Yes I scraped and cleaned the area inside the caliper, there was a lot of rust and dirt inthere also inbetween the caliper and the rotor. Scraped that all out and used brake cleaner. When I push one piston back in, the opposite piston comes out so there's fluid going round and the system is working. The new pads slide in easy. You can slam the brakes without touching the steering wheel and the car goes into a straight line. I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens...

Did you check
the rotor thickness? You could have a smooth rotor that is still below min thickness.

My guess would be that the piston that should have been pushing on the pad that was not worn down, was seized in the caliper. I doubt that it will heal itself, so a new or rebuilt caliper is likely in order.
