Help !! No sound from my new Sony CD player !!Help !!

Hi All,

I got a 1997 E420 and today I install a new Sony CD player CDX-M800 with VW's harness. everything looks fine, so power is not the problem, the AM/FM radio is function normally, but when I switch to CD, NO Sound at all !! I go back to the store I got the CD player from, the guy give me a demo one to try it, Still NO sound !!, so the CD player is ok, but how come is NO sound ? I have a stock Bose system, and I only install the CD play, the rest system are still stock ! Any answer to this problem ? I double check the harness wiring. everything is fine ! HELP !!

Thanks in advance !!

Hey trustz, you mean you get sound from the head unit when it's on AM/FM radio but no sound from the CD??? That sound's really weird, please confirm. I am wondering if it does have something to do with the wiring harness (since you claim the Sony head unit is fine) and the output for the CD player.

Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for the reply, yes I can hear AM/FM radio loud and clear, but once I play the music CD, NO sound at all !!, I even try to hook up the Sony CD changer and still NO luck, I know the Sony CD player is fine because I went to the store and try the demo one (it works fine in the store demo station !!) and still NO sound, I know its weird, I am wrondering may be something to do with the Bose amp ? I am going to try to by pass the Bose amp, just conect the speaker IN wires and OUT wires without go into the amp. like this:

BEFORE:

head unit-------amp---------speakers

AFTER:

head unit----------------------speakers
amp

Don't cut any of your factory wires and/or plugs though!!! Do you have an extra speaker of any kind laying around. Try attaching speaker wires from that speaker to one of the out-going speaker connections on the back of the Sony and play a CD. See if you can get sound that way. If so, then it's the Bose amp. Still too weird though since you can here the radio. I am going to call one of my sound tech buddies and ask him. I'll get back to you...
