Blower motor trouble
I sent my '99 E300 Turbodiesel to a shop that a guy named "Joe Cool" works. He is an AC specialist. He worked previously with his father in a shop that did nothing but AC work.
I dropped the car off 5 days ago. The manager told me that the blower motor and blower motor regulator needs replacement at a cost of $ 907. After these parts are installed, they could look for other problems.
I really don't have that kind of money laying around, so if anyone can help this slightly disabled Navy vet, with a good set of hands, I would be much abliged.

1999 E430 Sedan
This is my FIRST post here at MBWorld, and I have a problem -
I have a 1999 W210 - E430 and the A/C fan is a psyho as Sybil.... it runs when it wants to and shuts down anytime, leaving us with NO FAN activity whatsoever.
Now I know what some are going to already say - "Oh you just HAVE to do that DIY fix using the S-Class Blower Motor Regulator, and swap out the E-Class for the S-class...
This - I do not think I can do - due to compatibility of the parts, as my E430 was built in October of 1998. It's a pre-facelift E class with a fan unit that has a PLASTIC frame instead of the cast aluminum one
THIS is the Blower Motor Regulator THAT I HAVE:
I ordered this S-Class Blower Motor Regulator that was listed in the DIY Instructions Thread:
front
back
This S-Class part clearly does not match up with the fan and regulator assembly that I have, so anyone have any suggestions?
The only other thing I can think of - is to replace the CCU, as the digital screen shows that the letter or number FARTHEST TO THE RIGHT IN THE DISPLAY DOES NOT SHOW TOTALLY - when it is supposed to show "FF" - instead it looks an "F with a "backwards 7 to the right of the first "F" (reading left to right) - weird - Hey?
Could this mean that my CCU is defective? The fan will not run at all - at any level......
I did the AC Diagnistic test with the following values:
1=94
2=90 *
3=57
4=55 *
6=170 *
7=20 *
8=170 *
9=35 or 37 *
10=3.5 *
each test with an "*" means that the number farthest to the right did not show all the way - eg - value for test 9 was EITHER a 35 or a 37 - I couldn't tell because the 5 or the 7 (whichever it was) was not showing the complete number - digitally
I also got error codes:
B1234 - Sun sensor (B32)
B1235 - Emissions sensor (B31)
Should I change the sensors out next? BEFORE I ORDER A NEW CCU (for $889.00 USD)???
Thanks in advance for any help y'all can offer
I am in Phoenix today with a projected high of 104 F
thx
kevin
