Head unit options for '99 E320

My parents just bought a 99 E320 and they want to know what their options are for a headunit or cd changer, as the car stands now there is no tape or cd player in-dash but it appears to be pre-wired for a ch changer.

TIA

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the current radio controls include a keypad for a wired phone (not installed) in case this makes a difference.

The tape deck is behind the display. You can fit just about any modern head unit it there.

Ahh, ok. I thought it was odd that there was no tape deck. Thanks.

I went to Crutchfield and they didn't have fit guide for the car, where can I get info for harnesses, etc, or am I stuck going to a local shop and paying them to do it?

There's an Audio & Electronics forum on this web site you could try. Also, did you call Crutchfield or just check their web site? Maybe they still have the info around and if you call they can help you.

I checked their website. It would be in their best interests to have all their fit information on the website. Considering they still have a guide for my now-gone 1990 Toyota Corolla I don't see why'd they remove the one for a '99 MB if they did, in fact, have one before...

I guess I'll give them a call just in case, because I'd hate to send my parents to a audio installer and pay through the nose for something I can do in a couple hours. Thanks.

That's it, except the numbers on the right have the corresponding letters from a phone and it has the option for a CD changer. I figured how to get to the tape deck, pretty slick.

Does anyone know of any walkthroughs for installing an aftermarket headunit in it's place? OEM is always looks cleaner but $600 for a cd changer is insane...

CD Changer

You can always get an aftermarket RF CD changer and keep the MB stereo. They plug in to your antenna input and transmit CD sound around 87 - 89MHz or so. They have there own small control panel to operate the changer and you just set one of your radio presets to changers output. You can hide the changer in the trunk and they cost much less than the OEM model.

My 2001 E320 has the basic Mercedes AM/FM stereo/8 bose speakers, and 6 CD in trunk. I really dislike the unit. I am tired of going to my trunk when my co-workers who drive Altimas, have the convenience of a indash changer.

Is there an indash system that can replace my current system WITHOUT appearing aftermarket. Also would MB void my warranty for replacing the unit?

Sorry, but in my humble opinion, that is an atrocity! It may serve the purpose, but aesthetics sure flew out the window
