E320 seat stuck on track

We have had a '00 E320 for a couple of months and love it. Now we're thinking about buying bro-in-law's '97 E320, but has a couple of issues I want to correct before purchase. Since we are fairly new to the MB's family and to this forum, have mercy with technicalities of explanations. The first issue is that the front pass seat is stuck all the way forward. When I press the door control to move it back, it starts sliding back on the left track (side by center console) but it is stuck on the right track (by door) as if something was blocking that track, but it seems to be clear. It was working fine before it just happened 2 days ago. I know someone out there can help me troubleshoot this issue--thanks so much.

My guess is that something is on the track preventing it from moving, or the right track is broken. There is only one motor for the fore/aft movement of the seat. The seat buttons however are another matter. Once you get it moving, I suggest you use 2 of the memory settings to position the seat all the way forward and all the way back, that way, when the fore/aft switch breaks, you can use the memory buttons to move the seat.

It is easy to pull the chair out to take a better look at it. 4 bolts and disconnecting all the electrical stuff if I remember correctly. I remember pulling out the passenger seat to do the airbag cable repair - and it took me about 10 minutes to fully pull it out and even disconnect the seatbelt.

Just a thought to take a better look at it. It also gives great access to clean all the crap that may have accumulated under the chair.
