Infrared Fob Problem
Hey everyone,
before making this post I have read some other posts about this problem but still haven't found a solution. My Key fob from a 96 e320 died on me, so I changed the battery and followed the syncing steps:
1) Press button twice (while pointed at rear view mirror)
2) insert key and turn to position 2 (within 30 secs)
I have done this many times over. Checked all the fuses. The light on the fob also lights up bright when held done for a moment. It was working fine just a day ago (the red and green lights blinking simultaneously has been going on for some while before the key died, which I believe was a signal that the key fob battery was low). Car still turns on and everything, but I have to now manually lock and open the doors, which is a pain. Anyone have any ideas?

You have an earlier generation of remote than I have but some of these keys just die unexpectedly. I got 2 originals with mine and 1 stopped working a couple of months ago. All I knew to do was replace the batteries but that key's red light does not blink. Since yours sounds like a different problem, you might try cleaning the window on the remote or the one on the door handle. My best guess is either the key is not transmitting or the car is not receiving. If that doesn't help you might need a new key or the car's receiver.

I have found the solution! To re-sync them:
1) Press button twice
2) Insert into Driver side door
3) Turn key(I turned the key both left and right, So don't really know which way your suppose to turn it exactly :P)
And it just started working like a charm again, but thanks for the reply Musikmann!
