Smoke silver
metallic clear coat.
if you are curious about what to call the cars color.
welcome to the world of Mercedes.
Change your spark plugs.. Use copper plugs in your old school M104 engine
keep on using conventional oil if that is what has been used for years.
Change your transmission fluid.. You can use dex3 in your 4 speed no need to worry about the special fluids the 5speed overdrive guys require

Thank you! It has 86k.
Thank you for the kind words and advice. Great tip on the transmission fluid!
Speaking of the 'old school M104', I actually like it a bit better than the more modern V6. It just seems to have more character, makes a nice sound, and runs smoothly.
I do have one issue with the car that I just noted; when in stop and go traffic, or just idling for awhile, the temperature gauge creeps perilously close to the red (around 110). When on the highway, it remains around 80. Do you happen to have any thoughts?

Did you have
the car inspected before you bought it?
If you don't know how to check thongs like coolant, thermostat, fans, etc
do yourself a favor and find a good Mercedes independent shop and have it checked out.
Something is not cooling correctly at idle.
Get it fixed

Hey could you take a photo of the circle(?) that moves the rear view mirrors and post it on here? There is a spare button in my car and I'm wondering if its the proper one, by the looks of it in the photo it is, but I wanna double check cause its not so easy to put in so I don't wanna force it.
Thanks and welcome to the forums! btw, that cars paint looks beautiful!

hahaha wasn't my intention, my bad if that's what it seemed like. Unfortunately it doesn't show a photo of that in the owner's manual i've already checked. I just wanted him to zoom in on that little detail
(the button i meant was in the second photo and its partly showing already, just can't zoom in to see it)

Thank you for the help. I did the checkup myself, and I am fortunate that it is under warranty too.

No worries; thank you for the offer. I am going to pass at this time though. I have to admit, the headlights are actually pretty great the way they are.
