Any Pics of Eclass lowered with 20" wheel/tires?

I am considering a 210 Eclass(430) as my next vechicle, but I have been bitten by the dub bug! I am on my way to my 3rd set on my current vehicle (96 GS300), and if I purchase a M/B, I would like to fit it with 20" tires as well.

If anyone has pics with the following setup, PLEASE post.

I MUST lower whatever I drive, so slapping some big ole rims/tires on and riding around at dumptruck height is unacceptable(although some guys do it). I have only been able to find one pic, and thats of a black one with 20"Brabus 3 on TWS website. I dont think such a wide wheel would be proper for a lowered 210. I was thinking 8.5" all the way round or 8" FR and 9" RR.

I need to know what mods need to be made, and the extent that has to be taken to properly fit a H&R cup kit 1spring pad FR, and 2 spring pad RR (i figure this will keep the car from sitting flat when I install a subwoofer enclosure), 20x8.5" wheel and 245/35-20 Toyo T1-S tire(slimmest overall sidewall) to this car. I was told something about trimming a control arm or something like that once before.

To fit 20"s on a 210 you must do one of the two following things.

1. Flare out your front fenders (a la W124 E500) cuz the wheel will hit the inner control arm.

or

2. Shave the inner control arm. (not recommended)

The rears will clear 20s w/o a problem. It's the fronts that will hit.

Why is it that you can put 20s on the 210 wagon without a problem?? I have seen a couple guys with them, and trust me, they did not shave their inner control arm (probably would not know what it was!!)

I'm trying to figure out why many wheel companies say their 20" wheel will fit on an E430... but they never mention the E320? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does the E420 have wider wheel wells than the E320? Thx!!

(I'm trying to get 20's on my 96 E320)....

JDubb, I was only able to find one person on the forums that has done the 20s on a Eclass thing. His name is Will and he drives a 97 E 420. The work involved, and the loss of drivability of the car is not worth it. I actually called the shop that did his car (The Wheel Supply) and spoke to a guy named Sander that really helped me out alot.

If you dont want drop the car (which would be a CRIME after perching it atop 20" wheels), you may be able to get away with just having you bumper/fender shaved, and deal with not being able to turn full lock. With a drop, there are more issues. I attached a link to another forum, where I got some help on this topic. Good luck

Aristo,

Thanks for your help!! With what I've learned so far, I think in my case 19's will work just fine. I don't want to have to do any major mods to make the 20's fit. And I also want a decent ride. I had Carlson Evos (19's) before... so I think those, or something simliar, would look just as good as 20's. Or at least that is what I will be trying to convince myself, LOL! I just don't want the headache of fitting the 20's... It's too bad though, because the tires for 20's are less expensive... and rolling on dubs would be nice....

20" wheels on a W210 is too much trouble and probably the worst handling and ride you can imagine. Look at this post about ruined 19" wheels:

JDubb, I would love to different and a have a 210 on 20s, but there are just too many tradeoffs! Like I said, if you dont not mind riding around at ML height, you could probably just slap some on and deal with it, but other than that stick to the 19s!

As far as potholes go, the 20s would probably be better since you would run a 245 or 255 on a 8.5" rim in the front, as opposed to a 235 tire on that same rim, when running a 19.

Good luck and drive safe!
