full respray??

Hello, my 2000my facelift E55 has some really ugly rust permanently set into the front wings and the rear wheel arches.

Why are Mercs the only rusty cars out there!!

Anyway I have had a quote to put on new front and rear wings and respray the whole car glass out.

Are you sitting down.........£9500

forgetting that particular quote has anyone had to restore their bodywork and what was their experience, cost, finish etc.

in the meantime I will be driving old rusty artound for a while - Mercedes should be ashamed

Only a very tiny percentage of W210's are as rusty as yours. After 10-15 years it's not the manufacturer's fault but the conditions under which the car was cared for. I recently toured the MB Classic Center in Irvine, CA. Based on some of the questions about repainting by other guests your quote doesn't seem terribly out of range.

Actually for our cars Mercedes Benz used a water type based paint which made W210s more susceptible to rusting. What I did for my car was put a Rust defender module to help reduce further rusting from happening... As for your current problem that you have on your car I never tried to do my own rust removal/paint job on my car
