1999 E320 Crankshaft Position Sensor
Car won't start this morning. Lights up but won't crank. Internet search reveals maybe it's the Crankshaft Position Sensor. I found a picture of where it is on a 1997 but it's not there on my car.
I'd love to change this myself and avoid inflated dealer prices.
Any help?
Thanks.

Don't
know if this will get to you, since I have been placed on probation for selling a spark plug tool![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
But not starting in the morning sounds more like a dead or dying battery.Charge it for several hours at 10 amps on a charger (key out of the ignition whenever charging it can mess with the das rolling code system if the key is in the ignition)and then give it a go.

don't pm me They won't let me read my mail either

Can't read
my posts, can't reply to pm's,can't even get a reply as to how to become a sponsor if I chose too.
Some of the sponsors have offered me compensation for all the business i send the ones that keep fair prices and never let customers down(they know who they are)and I have declined I just do it for the love of knowing another member has taken the tools in hand and become more self sufficient. Something this country is in sore need of.
try

for the diy,try the battery test first,I still think that is the issue.
kindly,
ohlord

CPS replacement
A BIG THANK YOU to those who posted the fix here.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank you!
This turned out to be a very simple fix. The only issue I had was my big hands trying to feel for the Torn Bolt on the CPS. The torx socket turned out to be an 8, I believe. The ratchet was only able to move about 1/10th of a turn due to tight spaces, but after the bolt broke loose, it was a simple spinning of the socket extender.
Part cost $62 from Advanced Auto, and was in stock.
