Installing CD Changer in 2000 E320
Anyways, I looked in the trunk driver's side and did not find a CD changer so I was wondering if I could buy one off ebay and install it myself. My dad has a S430 but his CD changer doesn't work. (Says no CDs loaded). Is it possible to take his and put it in my E320? The CD changers look very similar to each other.
There was a change about MY2000 from wire to fiber optic. Make sure you get the correct one as they are incompatible.
MB changers in the trunk can be unreliable and you have to stop and change the CDs on a long trip. I think a better alternative is to add an AUX-IN cable routed to the glove box. Then use an MP3 player. Just my $0.02. There is a sticky in the Audio/Electronics forum regarding the options.

There are other less DIY intensity options. If you have a Becker radio, Becker North America will exchange your radio for one with the cable or install a cable in yours for a fee. Alpine may have a similar plan. If you have an older model with a tape deck you can buy an adapter but the sound quality isn't as good. The link that I mentioned has some of the options.
Of course, a lot of people just purchase an after market radio (head unit) with an AUX-IN connector built in. That may be the cheapest but the radios tend to be a bit gaudy unless you like metallic purples.

OK, so you said you have to stop and change the CDs....does this mean that even tho there is a 6 disc CD player installed, it won't change CDs on it's own? That's what I'm finding but thought I was dense about how to change them. Thanks
