Remove Tel-Aid wires in center console?
Quick question. Does anyone know if removing the wires from the center console Tel-Aid buttons will cause my car to throw an error?
Its a 2001 E55.
The large coiled up wire that feeds down behind the bin often gets in the way when I try to shut the armrest. Talk about frustrating when you are driving... I'm tired of it. The system is useless now anyway.
I can see there are quick connectors to allow removal, but I don't want to create some type of annoying warning light or error code. I especially don't want to have something that will require STAR to reset. (I learned the hard way about turning the key on when you have the door airbags disconnected)

i unplugged everything in my 99 e320 without any complications. i also removed the plastic covers for all the wiring and the shock for the armrest cover and doubled the size of my center console

Well, I took it out. No errors, but the red "SOS" light up near the mirror stays on constantly now. Not sure if I like that or not. I'll give it a few days and see if it bothers me much.
