buying an e320 wagon
w210 manual shift boot gaiter
To protect the electronic shift module from spills--the $1500 cup of coffee scenario--I wanted to try using on a shift boot (gaiter) from a manual transmission (european version). I can find the boot on ebay, but I'm not sure if will be able to use the existing surround (ridged plastic piece that snaps into the console.
As far as I can tell, the leather gets put around and under that piece, and the piece is pushed down as far as it can go. The vendors selling the boot have not responded to my question. Does anyone have a part list who can tell me if the surround for the manual and for the automatic are the same part?
BTW--i know it will cover the w/s switch and the gear indicator, but i can see on the gauges what gear I'm in, and don't expect to need the w with a 4-matic anyway.
thanks
