99 E320 4matic wagon
Question oscillating noise/vibration at 40-60mph

I have a 99 E320 4matic wagon (110,000). It has a oscillating noise vibration at 40-60mph. Independent mechanic placed "ears" on the car and said noise is coming from the transfer case. Drained and fill transfer case with new fluid but no change. Had replaced tires and aligned with no change in noise. No noticeable clunks and no noticeable noise at lower speeds or low speed turns. Does the transfer case have the ability to cause this symptom?

Was reading on another forum about a similar problem. He changed his transmission mounts and it solved the problem. He did the labor himself and the mounts were about $125 if I remember correctly.

Homepukes, great advice, since transmission mounts have a tendency to go bad in these cars. Might even check the motor mounts while under there. Also check tire pressure as well, especially the fronts.
