Transmission won't upshift at WOT
Here's the dilemma: I have a 1997 Mercedes E300 diesel with the 722.6 transmission. For the past couple of years now (probably around 20,000 miles) the transmission simply refuses to upshift when the accelerator pedal is at or very near full throttle, which is obviously very inconvenient when trying to get a heavy car up to freeway speed on a short on ramp!!! When the engine starts to rev too high I have to ease up on the accelerator, let the engine upshift, and then sink my foot back in it. I have a check engine light with a generic DTC P0200: Injector Circuit Open. I took the car to the local mercedes shop (not the dealer, but a mercedes specialist with the Mercedes HHC scan tool) and asked them what to do. They gave me the following trans codes:
008 Reverse gear/park solenoid Y/66-1
865 Control module N/15-3
104 Occasionally reverse gear/lock solenoid
114 Occasionally selector lever implausible
132 Occasionally engine management CAN communication or engine temperature implausible
135 Occasionally CAN communication disturbed with engine management
136 Occasionally CAN communication disturbed with instrument cluster
147 Occasionally gear implausible or transmission slipping
161 Occasionally control module N15/3
Not knowing enough about it to know what it all meant, they recomended a flush and fill, which I did several times but made no difference. I also tried adjusting the trans linkage at the pedal position sensor but it seemed to make no difference either.
I'm willing to replace major expensive components, like the computer or the transmission itself, but I cant afford to just start replacing parts until I find the defective one. I also don't want to replace the entire transmission if the problem is something minor like a solenoid or something. I would greatly appreciate the advise if anyone has any ideas or experienced this issue!!!!
Remove valve body, replace conductor plate. That usually is the issue when p0715 code is not present.
Then have the codes cleared on an sds scanner.
Those plates are known failure points that cause upshift issues.
Diy might be on w210 forum www.benzworld.org
Have you inspected the tcu for fluid intrusion from a faulty electronic connector on the side of the trans? diy also on benzworld but usually throws earlier mentioned input speed code p0715
