Climate Control Display Problem - Help
Great board! I have a 2000 E320 and the climate control LCD display can be read just fine during the day. However, at night you cannot see the display at all. I just bought the car and don't know if I am simply missing something or if I have an issue. The cluster lighting control is all the way up and I have no issues seeing the cluster display (in fact it is very bright). Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Awesome car by the way.
There are three replaceable bulbs on the back of the CCU (Climate Control Unit). You need a set of 'radio keys' to pull out the unit. They go in the little slots in the lower corners to release the locks. Keys are available from a dealer and various online souces including Becker NA ( www.beckerautosound.com ) since they are used to pull the radio as well.
Thanks!
This is why I love this board! Someone always has the answer and in this case within minutes.

Re: illest
Your reply is very timely as I found and ordered the keys off of Amazom.com Saturday night for $5.00 ($10 when you add shipping). Also found the bulb at a local parts supplier (two for under $3.00). I tried using a tip, found on this board, to get the unit off without purchasing the keys but unfortunately it did not work for me. Regardless, I don't mind spending the money for the keys as I know I will need them some time in the future.

What an easy job!
For those who haven't attempted this fix yet, once you have the keys it makes this task a snap. It took less than a minute from start to finish. I used a Sylvania 2721 bulb as was recommended on BenzWorld. They fit perfectly. However, I will say that by using the Sylvania instead of the MB OEM bulb that there is just a very slight difference in the maximum lighting. (Only something the owner would notice!) Very easy job and thanks again for everyone's input on this board. It sure as heck beats going to the dealer for every little minor fix.
