1999 e320, transmission issue?

I have a owned a 1999 e320 4matic for 6 months. It has 195,00 miles. Very clean well maintained and well taken care of. About 3 weeks ago started making a noise. Turned out to be the transfer case. I had the transfer case replaced with a used one from the junk yard. While replacing the transfer case, mechanic decided that tranny needed service and changed the fluid and filter (he said he used the proper fluid). Car ran fine for two weeks. Lastnight my daughter got stuck with it, said she put it in gear and it wouldn't move. I went to get her, started the car and it went fine. I stopped, put it in park, spoke briefly with her and when i got back in, put it in drive, it wouldn't go. Engine just reved like it was in neutral. Wouldn't go in reverse or any other gear. I towed it home, approx one mile with my truck. When i got in the driveway, I started it and was able to drive again. I called the guy who service the tranny. I said the fluid he took out was very dirty, prob should have tranny flushed but he didnt have the machine. I called Tranny "experts" and was told that by servicing the tranny and installing new fluid, the new fluid worked like a detergent, loosened up dirt in the tranny and clogged things up. Tranny probably ruined. Doesnt make sense cuz after it sets a few minutes it goes fine. I called another tranny guy and he said first explination was "bull****" and that it sounds like a simple sensor or electrical problem. Seems to make more sense to me. Any suggestions?

check the transmission harness, see if it's wet with fluid.

and if it is, is the concern that the fluid is shorting something out or that there is a leak?
