Unhappy Engine Clicking

Hey Guys,

I did an oil change about 2 days ago, and the mechanic put in
Motul 6100 Synergie 15w50 Oil

http://motul-canada.com/en/products/..._15w50_TDS.PDF

He told me that it was MB 229.1 Approved, I believe it had 5w40 in the last oil change. But just last night (day after) I noticed this horrible clicking noise after driving for about 20 minutes. This morning I started her up and it had the same clicking noise, I drove it for about 10 minutes and the clicking mellowed, but it was still there.. Anyone have any ideas on what it could be or suggestions on what to do? I live up in BC-Canada, at the moment temperature varies between 10 degrees in the day, to 3 Degrees at night. Thanks for your inputs!

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Just because it meets

spec does not mean it meets it for cold weather.
5w40 0w40 sure 15w50 in cold weather is starving the engine of oil when cold started. Dump it and put in the correct amount of correct wt oil.

Oh ok, just phoned the mechanic and said he'll swap it tomorrow. Which one would you recommend more 5w40 or 0w40 for BC weather?
Thanks!

Actually

I think Mb changed the recommended from 229.1 to 229.3 or 229.5 on model years 97 and earlier
so either
Motul 8100 E-Tech 0W-40
SJ/CF
A3/B3/B4

229.3
X
Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-40
SL/CF
A3/B3/B4
will meet the pre FSS specs.
If really cold go with the 0w40
summer 5w40 coin toss.

15w50 probably flows like molasses at low temp
also M104 tsb calls for 7liters a bit under what was listed in the original owners manual.
Over filling can cause lifter chatter as well as too thick viscosity.

Loud ticking is still there, so did not drive it today.
Hmm the 5w40 I used during the winter when it snowed, and now that I think about it there was very slight ticking(could hardly hear it) for the first 30 seconds of the car being turned on, that might've been cause it was cold? But I'll probably request for the 0w40 tomorrow just cause it'll still be a bit chilly for a little while. Then once summer rolls around 5w40?
Thanks!

Had the oil changed to Motul 8100 X-Cess 5W-40
The noise dropped, but there is still a squeal and clanking sound for some reason..
