Trunk won't open

Hey guys my problem is that the trunk won't open, three hours ago it was fine (opens using key fob and interior switch) but now all of a sudden it won't open. I don't hear the air sucking up anymore (is the pump the issue?)
Couple days ago this started, I pressed the key fob trunk release and I could hear the air still going and wouldn't stop, when I tried to close it it wouldn't close until the air stopped then it would close. And yesterday same thing happened and today it wont open at all.
I didn't try the manual key as it is on a different key fob and I'm not at home yet ( I think it will open manually but that wouldn't solve my problem )

Any input would be great and thanks ahead guys!

Update 1: When I got home I tried using the manual key, that wouldn't open it either but now the air sucking sound is back except it keeps going until it makes a squeak then stops but still doesn't open the trunk.

Update 2: Turning it counter-clockwise and then pushing it in manually opens the trunk - however pressing the button, using the trunk release via key fob, and interior trunk release still does not work. All I hear is the hissing sound and that's it. Could it be a loose connection somewhere?

It definitely sound like a loose connection or a break in the line somewhere, try to locate the origin of the noise, or at least general area(trunk lid, hinge or luggage area). Don't open it too many times in a row when testing, because that make the pump go into fail-safe mode and not pump anymore.

Actually best way to test would be using compressed air(at low pressure), instead of the onboard PSE.

Good luck.

yes, good suggestion (bypass PSE). you can use one of those syringe bulbs
at the drug store (use for baby nose etc) to puff some air into the hose. the
PSE port should be marked HECK. be very careful when disconnecting the hose.
the connector and hose can be a little brittle

The sound (squeak) is coming from near the hinge itself when I had listened to it last night, I'll take out the lining later today when I get back from school and check up on it. Thanks guys!

Never got around to taking out the lining, was busy with school until today. I inspected it and it seemed like it was just loose as after pushing it in and making it was all secure it started working again
Must have jogged it loose when I had to replace the license plate threads, thanks again guys
