would replacing the tint on one window fix my AM reception?

Still working out a few bugs on my new 2000 wagon. I've read the threads on tint affecting radio reception and my wagon was tinted when I got it. I get great FM reception but AM is horrible. I do not know if my tinting is metallic or ceramic, but reception points to the later. I did pull the access panel of the driver side roof above the rear side glass that has the antennae and all is hooked up fine. No amount of wiggling or thumping does anything to the reception. So, what I'm considering is having just the tint on the antennae window replaced with ceramic. Is this likely to fix the problem or is the tint issue really a whole car problem?

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
Stay away from

metallic tints
and am is poor because of that and the crappy am/fm diversity amp.
A real antenna installed motorized is needed and in a wagon one can easily be installed in the pass side wheel well.

By motorized do you mean one that raises up and down out of the exterior of the car or something that is completely hidden in that compartment? In the event that this is the best way where is the am antennae wire that runs from the radio? Does it go up the driver side A pillar and to that little panel on the roof in back or does it route someplace else? If it was easily accessible I could see just replacing it with another antennae that was not in such close proximity to my likely metallic tint.

if you want it to look right change the tint all around so it matches and do not use metallic. I use regular tint and no issues with reception.

I have no tints, and AM radio reception always sucked. Not a strong point on our receivers

Ditto and no tint here either. My FM is fine but the AM stinks.
