LED Tail Light Problems..

Hey everyone,

I just bought a pair of LED tail lights off ebay, and installed them. The LED's work great. Except.. That when I brake there's no additional lights that come on to tell cars behind me that I'm braking. The LED's stay on constantly, and for the small inner pieces (pieces attached to the trunk), no lights come on other than the reverse lights when i switch it to reverse. The small brake light that's inside at the bottom of the rear window is also constantly on, I can't remember if its normally on all the time or just when I brake, but now its on 24/7. I'll have some pictures attached, and that's how the lights are whether I brake or not, do you think I may have plugged it in wrongly or if it could be a defective? Please let me know what you think, thanks.

I switched one side and all the brake lights were still on, I then switched both to stock and it went normal. I then put the LED's back on, the brake lights work now, but the driver side tail light doesn't illuminate at all (with stocks they light up, and light brighter when brake is applied). The right side works perfect, it lights up and when brake is applied, it lights brighter. I then switched both to stock again, and even on the stocks, the driver side tail light doesn't light up at all unless brake is pressed (worked when I switched them before). Any suggestions anyone?

Check left front side marker if it does not light up you've blown the fuse(driver side of the dash). You've most likely blown it because your left light was incorrectly wired, double check your wiring with opposite side and then replace the fuse.

You might need a resistor or something. I encountered a similar problem with my C63 trying to upgrade the "eyebrow" bulbs to LEDs. They would only stay on a dim intensity and would intermittently brighten to full intensity for a split second before going dim again. It sounds like yours could be a reverse problem also with a resistor or lack thereof.

Thanks for the replies everyone, the LEDs have 2 resistors on each side attached. My side marker is dead so blowing a fuse does sound correct, do you happen to know where the fuse for this is? Thanks!

fuse should be inside the front door.

I know there are fuse boxes under the rear seat and in the front engine bay, or is it under the door panel?

Open driver door, look at the dash on the side there is a cover, pry it off and there's your fuses, just like I said earlier.

It was the fuse. Now the light works, but I'm back to the same problem in the beginning. Problem seems to be with left tail light. I disconnect it and the brake like turns off (right side tail light works perfectly), and when I hook it back up, the brake light turns on without me applying brakes..
