w210 iPod w/Factory Stereo
Like many other w210 owners, I was desperate for a way to play my iPod, but without major surgery to the great sounding factory Bose system. My solution was Bob at Factory Car Stereo Repair in Longwood FL. He wired an aux input that connects directly to the volume control chip. As soon as the plug goes into the jack, it defeats whatever audio source is playing and routes your iPod audio (or any player) right through. Sound quality is excellent. Give them a call if you are in the same boat: (407) 830-0777

I had a unit by Denion installed in my W210 back in 2005

Not sure how my unit compares to the current offering.
Basically, it emulates the optional CD player. The installer gave me some options on where to install, and I selected to have in installed in the glove box where the iPod would be out of sight. Rather than a headphone jack, it connects via an iPod connector.
I think it was about $300 for parts and labor.
I also had one installed on our BMW X5, which is nice b/c we can control the iPod via the controls on the steering wheel. With the W210, it controls via the radio, same as CD player.

thanks.
i hate how my Vol *** does not work, so I use my Iphone all the time, even to listen to local radio, so I can use my iPhone vol controls.
is there a DIY for the vol knob?

Done, and I have not soldered in YEARS. I'm still no good at it.
I had been using the tape with the 3.5mm plug sticking out, I just cut that up... used the cable and took the gutts out to leave in the player.
thanks.
