I noticed that the star emblem on front hood (2000 - E320 sedan) is missing; I presume it must have fallen off when I last went through automatic car wash. I have been driving various models of MB for past 45 years but have never experienced this; since 1975 they make quite robust system which will nto come out by ordinary pilfering. Is this easy to replace; where to get it from?

Maybe the spring gave out. They are pretty easy to get. Look on ebay. I took mine off and replaced it with a flat blue-ish emblem in it's place.

about $35, you insert a long nose needle nose pliers rotate the round fixture remove old remaining part if any. Insert new star line it up rotate round fixture to lock in place. takes 5 minutes or less.

lol this is a pretty old post but mine fell of too the other day. freaken weird! i was on the freeway and it flew right it off hit the windshield and it was gone

Pretty funny. I came back to the car and noticed the star had gone limp on the hood. The spring retainer loop broke. I used JB weld to hold it all together. No problem in 2 yrs!
