2000 E320 Wagon CPS Keeps Acting Up

Someone please help. My Wagon is having CPS problems..I have changed Crankshaft Sensors three times in one day from discount sensors, too OEM and the same thing keeps happening.. It will start after it has sat for a few hours and run perfectly. When you shut it off it will not start until it sits for a few hours.....No malfunction Codes and the car runs perfectly when it wants too. What am I over looking??? Will resetting the ECU help??

probably not the CPS then... scan with SDS to see if there are any stored codes. Possibly K40 is bad.

Thanks, What is a K40? I'll check it out and see if that cures the problem. This is getting to be a circus, even the Techs can't figure it out....

You think you have a CPS sensor problem. How or who suggested changing that with no CPS fault code--------your wasting your time and money.

Could be loads of stuff going on. I would get some freeze frame data for when it quits and go from there!! Is it fuel or electronics?? Good Luck

Geez

CPS fail all the time with no check engine lights or codes, stored or active.
Please plutoe stop pretending you think you know anything about a Mercedes and save a lot of gullible people a lot of confusion.

My post was

to clarify the misinformed total lack of correct information posted by Plutoe.
CPS fail most often without going code. The symptoms point towards the solution.
Your symptoms appear different than the typical hot run failure to start, cool start after 20 minutes cps failure.
m112 harness failure is very rare, and in the case of one it would throw a circuit malfunction of some item.

Anybody change the fuel filter?

Pressure regulator is built into the filter. Old filter can cause the issue and at times throw the codes normally associated with MAF failing.

Replaced fuel filter this morning only took 45 minutes, she started up with a little trouble but then started to run perfect....At least it started, rode around the neighbor hood awhile and parked it in the drive. Will go out in awhile and see if she starts right up....Thanks OLord maybe this will cure the lady...

Back to square one as of this morning.....Now it seems to be a fuel pump problem....When it does not want to start I don't hear the fuel pump go on....When it does start I hear the buzz of the fuel pump turning on when I turn the key....So going to give that a try....

I think there might be a fuel pump relay that you can check first.

After weeks of problems, the problem has been solved. A frayed wire connecting to the fuel pump was causing all the trouble...Found it while installing new fuel pump...Hope that this puts an end to all the troubles.....Thanks to everyone for all their input and hope that my troubles will help someone who is having the same problems.....
