E55 AMG 1999
E55 transmission maintence

I have a 1999 E55 and the owners manual says that the automatic tranmission does not need to have filter or fluid change. I was told that Mereceds later changed that to filter and fluid change every 40,ooo miles. Does anyonee have access to official message from mercedes? My dealer never did anything to my tranmission and it failed at 128,000 mile. Cost $6500 for rebuilt transmission. thanks kkwachi email: wachikk@comcast.net

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
That

TSB was directed towards shift quality issues on the 722.6 transmission also used in the W211 model. Everyone that values their 5 speed just follows that tsb change fluid and filter.
6500bucks for a rebuild trans? that is insane. You could install an 800 horsepower rated 722.6 transmission for far less than that including the labor to install it.
I hope that was not recently with 99 E55's selling under 10 grand with lower miles.
