OBD Codes
Have codes came up today on wifes 01 E430 . P0130 P0150 and P0400.
First 2 are O2 sensors ? bank 1 sensor 1 and bank 2 sensor 1. . Not being a Benz mechanic what does that mean? Is it difficult to replace the sensors?
The car has 175K miles on it and I do not remember if they were ever changed. Where are they located on the car?
P0400 is EGR ( I went to Auto Zone to get OBD read.) Clerk said most likely a clogged line or vacuum line. Where is the EGR located ? Is it a difficult change ?
Does having a code for 2 O2 sensors codes show up mean something irregular?
I would like to fix these faults myself . Any help appreciated. Thanks

Easy DIY
plug and paly sensors run around $100 and Someone around here even sells them![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
P0400 is egr flow malfunction. Clean the metal line going from the egr to the rear of the intake. EGR is located below the maf tube at the rear cylinder passenger side engine, you will see a polished aluminum tube leading from it to the center intake.
Diy on www.benzworld.org w210 forum diy stickies.

If you don't want to use these universals this might at least show you where they are located. As mentioned, member ohlord sells the plug and play type.

Thanks for the response. I just ordered 2 universal sensors from Amazon . Had a great sale on them . Less than 30 bucks each. I will install them when they get here. The EGR tube will be cleaned out today. I went back and checked my reciepts until I found the one for the 100K mile maintenance schedule . Didnt see anything stating replacing the O2 sensors. So, I guess I will find a new mechanic that can do it right. Until then I have been hired to do the job. Will post when complete.
Also since I am here How do you turn the CEL off?
Thannks for all the help and quick responses I appreciate it . I WILL be back.

30 buck
universal are cheap clones. If not at least bosch or ngk universals you will not solve the issue.
Once properly replaced o2 sensors are installed, line from egr cleaned, vacuum lines inspected, the codes will clear themselves after several drive cycles. If you erase the codes to clear the light you are only masking the issue and the codes remain in the pending section of the ecu, fooling no one.
Fix the problems, let it clear the light

You might be O.K. with those then. I'm going to have a look at Amazon too, but I just checked parts.com and they want $163 for 3 of them and $140 for the other for some reason.

OBD
I had to re register under another name . I couldnt log in for some reason. Just an update on the OBD codes I had on my 430. I ordered the O2 sensors and am awaitiing delivery . Now the CEL light has gone out. Was/is this a freak thing or common occurrence ? Do I need to worry about this? I am going to change the sensors anyway since I bought them . No need to wait . Do I need to get the codes reset or will that happen automatically ? My wife travels a lot in this car and she doesnt want any surprises and delays. I have told her the code is no big deal and not to worry. but now with the light going out is there a glitch or is this more German ingenuity? (I am German) So no ethnic backlash. just a joke.

At times
the switch from winter to summer fuel formulations can trigger o2 codes in marginal operating o2 sensors. We call them gremlins or temporary glitches. Change them out anyway at over 100 k miles they are past due.
