My apologies for starting a new thread, but I have not seen a clear answer on this subject.
My 99 E30 4matic wagon is riding hard in the rear . I noticed the hydraulic fluid is low in the reservoir in front of the washer fluid reservoir.
The level now is at the minimum and needs to be topped off. Which is not showing low fluid on the dash indicator (if it is suppose to?)
Also I thought maybe to replace the in reservoir filter as well.
Now my question - is there a difference in "levelling fluid" & central hydraulic fluid? What do I need to buy?
Everyone here has been a great help to a newbie mercedes owner in all previous issues & threads. Makes me love owing a Benz even more.

I do not have a direct answer for your question, however to help you understand the systems, I would look to free access to the MB EPC site.
There you will see the parts break out and fluids applicable to to the system you are questioning.Good Luck!!

if you are losing fluid(which your are) it doesn't just disappear. You need to inspect the accumulator spheres and lines at the rear self leveling shocks.
If leaking autohausaz carries them and diy on www.benzworld.org
w210 diy forum.

Thanks ohlord. There are no visible leaks or signs of lost fluid in the driveway or around the axles. Although I did just purchase the car from a "used" dealer, not sure when it was serviced last. So can't say how long it has been low, and assuming this has reason in why the rear is riding hard. Will do a top off and see from there about this possible leak & check the accumaltors.
Thanks again for your help
